Katie McCarthy, NP

Katie worked for 16 years at a leading comprehensive stroke center as part of the neurology team. She participated in emergency stroke treatments being revolutionized and worked to make them available to everyone. She helped implement processes making emergency treatments standard of care throughout the state of Colorado, including critical access hospitals via telemedicine. She worked to help stroke patients throughout their hospital stay, optimize outcomes and reduce repeat strokes. She has been a national speaker for multiple stroke, medical and nursing organizations, and is a hospital consultant for improving stroke programs. Katie has also served as an expert witness in legal cases involving stroke patients. Katie is passionate about transitional care and also has experience in skilled nursing and long term care facilities.  In her spare time, Katie loves spending time with her family skiing, biking, playing tennis and watching sporting events.

Jasmine Johann MSN, RN, FNP-BC

In-person service area: Centennial, Greenwood Village, Cherry Hills Village, Englewood, South Denver.

Jasmine is a nurse practitioner who has worked in healthcare since 2012. She began her role as a nurse practitioner in the stroke world and feels so grateful to be a part of this evolving specialty. She is a nursing graduate of the University of Colorado and completed her master’s program at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Currently, she serves as a stroke program coordinator at a premier comprehensive stroke center. In this role, she ensures the most up-to-date emergency treatments and standards of stroke care are utilized to provide the best patient outcomes. Jasmine has the honor of providing stroke-related education to providers at rural and urban hospitals across the Rocky Mountain region. She has dedicated her career to improving the lives of people who have had a stroke and looks forward to bridging care beyond the hospital walls. Originally from Kona, Hawaii, Jasmine has found her home in Denver with her husband, a Castle Rock native, and their three young daughters.

Michelle Whaley MSN, RN, APRN, ANVP-BC

In-person service area: Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree, Parker and Castle Rock

Virtual service area: all Colorado

Michelle Whaley is an Advanced Practice Nurse with over 35 years of experience in healthcare. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and completed a post graduate fellowship in advanced neurovascular practice in 2012. Michelle has been working in the field of stroke, at some of the most advanced stroke centers in the Denver metro area, since 2009. She is a co-author on numerous publications, including a recent scientific statement published in the Journal of the American Stroke Association. Michelle was awarded a Colorado Nightingale in 2017 for her work in stroke. She lives in Castle Rock with her family and enjoys watching baseball, camping, and live theater. She looks forward to assisting you with your stroke journey.
